Hi, I’m James.
I run James Thole Conversion Studio out of Denver. Here’s how I got here—and what I believe.
How the studio came to be.
I started out as a copywriter—the kind who’d dig through hundreds of customer reviews before writing a single headline. Research wasn’t a phase of the project. It was the half the job. The writing was the easy part.
That approach worked. Clients started asking for more. Could I look at the design? Could I write the SEO meta? Could I help them think through which pages they needed?
I was a copywriter doing three jobs. Eventually I built a studio that handles the whole thing properly. Same research-first method, more capacity, one accountable principal.
That’s where you find me now.
Five principles, no exceptions.
Messaging comes before design.
Most agencies write the copy last. We write it first. Every layout choice, every visual decision, every SEO move follows from the message.
Research is half the work.
Strong copy gets mined from customer reviews, sales calls, and interviews. Anyone can invent a clever headline at a whiteboard. Few people put in the work to know which headline will actually convert.
Premium means personal.
You don’t get a junior account manager. You don’t get handed off after the sale. The principal stays on every project, every call, every revision.
Speed matters.
Most agency websites take six months. Ours take 90 days. The trade-off is specialization, not quality. We’ve done this enough times to know what works.
Boring is fatal.
Businesses default to sounding like every other business in their industry. The hardest part of the job is helping clients stop sounding safe (boring) and start sounding authentic (interesting).
Trained by the best, always studying.
I’ve invested thousands in professional training because copywriting and conversion are hard skills. You can’t wing them on instinct. I keep studying because the bar keeps moving.

A small studio with a tight bench.
James Thole Conversion Studio is small and dedicated. The principal—me—stays on every project, every call, every revision. The team behind me is small, trusted, and hand-picked—people I’ve worked with across hundreds of projects.
You hire one studio. We deliver the whole thing.
Off the page.
When I’m not working on websites you can find me in the Ruby Hill neighborhood in Denver, Colorado where I live with my wife Anna, and our little buddy Ozzy–the curly haired westie.
You also may find me at Overland Golf Course punching out of some tree trouble deep on the back nine.
